Beneficial Bacteria in ponds
Your pond has a natural level of good bacteria to help clean and improve the health of the water. Ponds that have a high nutrient load from dead plants and algae have poor oxygen levels. By adding good bacteria to these ponds you increase the bacteria available to clean the water and speed decomposition of sludge. As nutrient levels decrease, oxygen levels increase, further cleaning the water. We see hundreds of customer’s ponds per year and gain experience with cleaning up their environment. We don’t carry many products, just the ones that work and are proven to do so!

We carry two versions of Beneficial Bacteria. One is a packet that is thrown directly into the pond and the other is a liquid is poured or sprayed into the pond. The liquid format is good for small ponds up to 100’ by 100’. Our Beneficial Bacteria is manufactured for us by Organica and contains our special formal that has 58 strains of bacteria and has floculent capabilities. A floculent causes small particles in the pond to clump together and then sink to the bottom where the bacteria complete the process.
POND CLARIFIER STUDY
The following performance analysis was conducted on Pond Clarifier. The purpose of the study was to quantify the reduction of organic pollutants removed over a 24 hour and 96 hour time period by microbial based pond product.
EXPERIMENTAL DETAILS:
1 gram of Organica Pond Clarifier was added to a 200 ml aqueous medium containing the following radicals; 500 ppm ammonia, 500 ppm nitrate and 200 ppm phosphate. The described medium was then placed on a shaker at 250 RPM at 30 degrees C. After 24 hours and 96 hours an analysis was performed to determine the levels of ammonia, nitrate and phosphate.
EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS: 24 Hours
The level of ammonia was reduced from 500 ppm to 25 ppm
The level of nitrate was reduced from 500 ppm to 5 ppm
The level of phosphate was reduced from 200 ppm to 5
EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS: 96 Hours
The level of ammonia was reduced from 500 ppm to 12 ppm
The level of nitrate was reduced from 500 ppm to 4 ppm
The level of phosphate was reduced from 200 ppm to 4 ppm
COMMENTS:
Due to increased microbial growth and cell lysis, protein from the cell would release into the medium. The biodegradation of this protein would provide additional ammonia, nitrate and phosphate in the medium. This would reflect in higher values of ammonia, nitrate and phosphate after 96 hours.
CONCLUSIONS:
In most cases, poor pond and lake water quality is the result of an over load of organic matter, namely excess nitrogen and phosphorous. This build up serves as a food supply for algae and anaerobic bacteria. This controlled experiment clearly demonstrates Organica’s Pond Clarifier has the capacity to remove these organic pollutants from the water column through microbial biodegradation. Once this food source has been removed and the water is brought back into ecological equilibrium the elimination of algae growth and pond scum will occur.
